Brokeback Mountain
Watched Brokeback? If you haven't, I recommend that you go watch it. Hesitating? You shouldn't. Thinking it's juz a gay film with no depth? You're juz freakin juvenile. Come on people! Go watch it coz I love it. Haha...
Okay back to this movie...it's about the LOVE! Passionate, Intense, & FORBIDDEN love between two over 20 long years. Yes you're right to say that it's the love between two men(gays) but my point is why don't people look at it as love between a couple. It's still love right?
I feel that Ang Lee have wonderfully directed & shown this intense, forbidden love during the time of the 1960s where sex was a taboo topic, what more sex between men. He did really well showing the reality of such forbidden love at that time & even so biased against by most during our times. This movie really touched me. It showed me how powerful love can be, how love can be enough to sustain one's passion & the longing for a future with the forbidden one when challenges ahead can be so daunting & give one excuses to give up. However, it's the LOVE & PASSION for the one that makes it so hard to give up. I can really understand how tough it was for me to give up someone - know I understand why!
Oops! Digressing again. Anyway, go watch this movie. I really recommend it. It's just a movie about love & promise (although it is about betrayal too). Hope you think/feel the same about the movie as I have.
Lastly, wanna give a round of applause to Annie Proulx for the wonderful prose she had written in Brokeback. A great & enjoyable short story! Kudos to you!
